PRS Clickers
What is a Personal Response System?
Personal Response System, PRS, is a technology that allows faculty to gain immediate feedback from students during class. It is especially useful in large classrooms where the traditional raising of hands is impractical. It also allows all students to have an equal voice in classroom activities.
The system is comprised of a handheld transmitter, often called a "clicker" and a receiver connected the instructor's computer. Instructors must first create questions using Powerpoint and the PRS software. Then, during class, students respond to the questions using their clickers. The results are automatically tabulated and then displayed on the instructor's computer. Many faculty have found clicker technology to be an enriching part of the classroom experience, making large lectures more interesting for everyone.
How do I get started using PRS at Emory?
Training:
The Emory Center for Interactive Teaching, ECIT, can meet with you to see if PRS technologies will work in your class. Assistance developing appropriate questions using Powerpoint and the PRS software is also available.
Contact ECIT by e-mail at ecit@emory.edu
Support:

Purchasing:
eInstruction's InterWrite RF system is the clicker vendor supported here at Emory. Students purchase PRS clickers at the Emory University Bookstore for around $40. The Bookstore will work with Faculty to ensure the proper number of student clickers will be available at the beginning of each semester.
