What is Emory College Online (ECO)

Emory College Online grew out of the successful Culpeper Seminar in Teaching with Technology which was inaugurated with the support of the Charles E. Culpeper Foundation in 1997. The idea behind the seminar was to provide support for the use of technology in teaching through funds for faculty instruction. The program was specifically prohibited from spending funds on hardware and software; rather, all efforts were to be directed toward teaching with the technology. Learn More

Summer 2009 Session Recap

This year's Emory College Online program offered two sessions: one session designed to support Emory’s iTunesU initiative and as such will focus on podcasting; the other session will be based upon the idea of digital storytelling, using digital images and audio to convey a concept, as part of teaching.

Guest Speakers ....

ECO incorporates guest speakers to educate and inform participants of various methods and examples they can utilize in teaching. Guest speakers range in experience with the particular technology being taught.

Technologies We Use ....

ECO uses multiple technologies and instructional methods to guide participants in reaching their teaching goals. Technologies have included iTunesU, podcasting, blogs, wikis, iMovie, Camtasia, Audacity and other applications used to enhance teaching and learning.

Instruction...

ECO is taught and organized by ECIT. Each session allows for participants to receive hands-on training and create tangible teaching tools or digital course content. Participants will leave with an understanding and examples of the particular technologies being taught.
