Syllabus

This course is a surveys Roman history from Julius Caesar through the Antonine Monarchy. An effort is made to present a balanced picture of Roman civilization by discussing political, social, economic, intellectual, and religious developments. Photo images will be used frequently to reveal the archaeological record. These images will also be put on the discussion page of this Web site to allow further analysis.

Course Requirements

Requirements will vary between Emory and Augsburg. The Emory program will continue alone until Monday, March 30, covering the Crisis of the Third Century. Emory students will be expected to write an historiographic essay of approximately 10 pages in length, due March 9th. There will be a take-home final exam pulling together the discussions and readings assigned, due April 3rd.
