Why do you need to study your proposed language? Write approximately 1-2 paragraphs describing your research/project goals and explaining why you need to study your proposed language to achieve them. Indicate the level of proficiency you would like to reach and the approximate date by which you would like to have reached it (if applicable).

It is assumed that a primary goal in any course of SILS instructions will be to develop speaking and listening (or signing) skills. To what extent would you also like to work on reading and writing skills? Would this involve the learning of a new writing system?
